(Ampersand Etcetera) 007 is Pablo Reche who includes some Jorge Castro guitar loops in Navegando Por El Mar Del Ruido which is a minimalist play of long tones, a lovely fuzzy cloud, pulsing raga, with long fading hiss that seems to be hiding more sounds. Finally RGV: Aliseum, a personal vision of Timanfaya National Park (008) builds a mysterious atmosphere of percussive loops, scrapes, deep thrums, adding organ notes and voice-like rumblings and another long fade out that balances the fade in, inviting you to create your own imagined landscape. The format still remains a favourite (and I am glad to see bulk 3" spindles appearing in shops) and Dreamland are offering an eclectic international menu of tasty treats.
(Taped Crusaders) As I write, in Argentina workers are taking over factories, hospitals and other workplaces and running them themselves as collectives, due to the mass abandonment of finance from the country. In the meantime, Pablo creates "Sonic Landscapes" from everything, every source conventional and un, in a single monumental drone similar to Alp's domestic drones. So many layers, so many cross-overs between the sounds. There's familiar white-noise hiss, mid-pitched echo drones, apparently there's guitar loops in there somewhere (courtesy a certain Mr. Jorge Castro; no relation I imagine), and the layers fluctuate and interchange to produce something that changes, remains static, and fills every crevasse in the brain itself. Light, white-yellow surrounding and shimmering, in which you float supplicant, surrendering with ease to the all-encompassing. Angels wear strange faces.
