| Random Acts of Elevator Music: delivered a set of eerie, analogue, almost sci-fi electronics & ambience. More impressive were their use of visuals, animated video of the band members shot around various corporate offices in Melbourne. SAMPLE | Retail Fireworks: drew out a large crowd to witness their unique blend of fractured drum machine beats, guitar strumming & field recordings. The improvisation of computer manipulated sounds gave the proceedings a more organic atmosphere. SAMPLE | ||

| Three Month Sunset: Gabe Lewis returned with his multitude of amps & stereo guitar. Word is, he has increased to 4 or 5 amps nowadays. The combination of his massive guitar drones & stock Nasa footage complimented each other perfectly. SAMPLE | Terminal Sound System: has been floating around town for many years with releases on Relapse/Release & a bunch of CDr albums. This was one of the most brutal displays of cut-up beats, clicks & warped jazz that I've ever heard. SAMPLE - SAMPLE | ||

| Desert Journies: opened the final evening of the festival. Armed with nothing but a bass guitar & a few effects units, set out to create some of the loudest minimal bass work possible. Slow, drawn out notes, looped rhythms, desert & arctic photography almost put the audience to sleep. SAMPLE | Amplifier Machine: are always an interesting band to watch, as they never play the same show twice. A strict improvisational unit. Their use of percussion, electric violin, music box, guitar & synth created a noisy & ambient stew. SAMPLE | ||

| Digit Span Test: were one of the most interesting acts at this festival. Their sound had a focused, driving almost tribal feel, with pounding percussion & some of the most crazy saxophone work this side of Coltrane. SAMPLE | Winterville: this time performed as a duo, featuring Alistair Watts on double bass. The use of the bass in particular bowing of the bass, fed through various looping devices enhanced Marcus Skinner's now signature sound of thick baritone notes from his Fender Bass VI guitar.
