DR018 -
SATURN by Violet
Zeromoon label head & experimental
artist, Jeff Surak has delivered a direct, blunt, aural assault on
the senses with his work on Saturn. By using a mixture of layered
electronics & dense, almost concrete drones, he eschews all of the
comfortable standards of ambient or drone music, there are no long
introductions here, no pretty mastering. Tracks appear & end
abruptly, barely leaving time to catch breath before the next. Each
track represents one of Saturn’s rings, of course its not actually
proven if there are 11, but who cares?

NEPTUNE by Todd Merrell
Todd Merrell is an expert at subtlety. His sounds
don't beg for attention, rather they simmer in the background to
slowly work their way into the psyche. He presents 8 tracks of
processed static & minimal ambience. Inspired by the moons of
Neptune.

PLUTO by Roman Olegov
Roman Olegov is a little known Russian
sound artist who crosses genres from ambient to dance music &
surround sound design. His work on Pluto is cold, windy, &
atmospheric but with light cinematic flourishes. Pluto feels like
taking an aerial tour of the most mysterious, unexplored planet in
the solar system.
